We reach the historic village of Chora Sfakion, a picturesque harbor tucked between steep cliffs and the deep blue sea. Enjoy a traditional Cretan coffee by the waterfront or sample the famous Sfakian Pie (with honey and mizithra cheese). This is the perfect place to feel the authentic, untouched pulse of Southern Crete.
Our final stop is the legendary Frangokastello, a remarkably preserved 14th-century Venetian fortress built right on the beach. The site is world-famous for the "Drosoulites"—a mysterious phenomenon of shadow-like figures that legends say appear at dawn. You can explore the castle's towers and then cool off with a swim in the shallow, turquoise waters right beneath its imposing walls.
